Susan G. Mintz, Esq.
Susan has been admitted to the practice of law since 1992. Susan attended Cardozo School of Law, in her third year of law school she had the unique privilege of interning for the late Honorable William B. Rigler, Supreme Court, Kings County. Also while in her third year of law School, Susan was published in the New York State Family Law Review Vol 23 March 1991 “Where do babies come from”. After graduating Law School Susan devoted herself to the practice of Matrimonial & Family Law. She is a seasoned litigator and handles most of the firm’s contested litigation. Susan joined the firm in 2005 and has brought with her a wealth of knowledge and litigation experience.
In addition to providing excellence to our client’s, Susan is also on the Second Department Attorney For Children’s panel and has zealously represented numerous children residing in Nassau County. She is also on the Nassau County assigned Counsel Legal Defense Panel in Family Court, Nassau County.
Susan is currently the Vice Chair of the Nassau County Family Court Law & Procedure Committee, a member of the Matrimonial Law Section of the Nassau County Bar Association and a guest lecturer for the Nassau County Bar Association Academy of Law and the New York State Bar Association.
Susan was active in the argument in the Matter of Brooke S.B. v. Elizabeth A.C.C, 28 NY 3d 1 2016, and lead counsel in the lower Court, co-counsel in the Court ofh Appeals in the companion case of Estrallita A. V. Jennifer L.D., which granted standing to non biological, non adoptive persons and reversed 25 year old case law. Susan was lead counsel on a subsequent case in Family Court, Nassau County,
Matter of Chimienti v. Perperis, 2019 NY Slip Op 2866, wherein the trial court, affirmed by the Appellate Division, further expanded the rights of non biological, non adoptive parents seeking custody to include an equitable estoppel test.
Susan has been a resident of Nassau County for the last 24 years where she resided and raised her family.
